Subtle Technologies: What I've Learned in India About Design

You're invited to join IDSA's Design for the Majority Section for a free webinar, Subtle Technologies: What I've Learned in India About Design, on Monday, February 2 at 11:00 am ET.

Ken Botnick, a frequent visitor to India in his work with the Village India Program in Kalleda, Andhra Pradesh, through the support of the Rural Development Fund, Hyderabad and Washington University, will be sharing his insights about design and how in the world of the everyday, usable object, the craftsman remains a vital part of Indian society with some (possible) lessons for the West. Design approaches and observations that focus on low use of energy, local cultural traditions, efficient use of materials, and customization will be presented. Certainly this is food for thought for all of us in light of our current global crises.

Joining Ken (from California) will be Leslie Speer, IDSA, Chair of the Design for the Majority Section, and (from NYC) Deb Johnson, former Chair of the IDSA's NYC Chapter and Academic Director of Sustainability at Pratt Institute.

Register now to reserve your seat for this webinar. After registering you will receive a confirmation email containing information about how to log into the session.
