Harnessing Brooklyn's Creative Capital

On Wednesday, March 5, the Center and the Brooklyn Economic Development Corporation will be co-hosting a forum on the growing impact self-employed creative professionals are having on Brooklyn's economy. Over the last few years, Brooklyn has become a magnet for self-employed writers, film-makers, photographers and designers who often work from home, but policy makers and economic development officials have yet to articulate a plan for supporting this important new growth sector. The discussion will be moderated by the Center's director, Jonathan Bowles. Panelists are:

Scott Adkins, Playwright, Founder, Brooklyn Writers Space
Pauline Barfield, President, Barfield Public Relations
Heather Chaplin, Journalist and Author, Smart Bomb
Sara Horowitz, Founder and Executive Director, Freelancers Union
Michael Kelly, Principal, Michael Kelly Design; Adjunct Professor, Pratt Institute
