innovation from necessity.
I am putting together a program for this January where I plan to take designers on a two week tour of India. We will be sponsored by the Confederation of Indian Industry. Our design hosts will be a number of design firms, primarily from Pune (elephant Design and Idiom design among others). We will experience India from a multiplicity of viewpoints – urban, historic, rural desert and meet with business people and designers working within the complexity of the different economic strata – from wealthy internationally savey to emerging middle class to people living on less than a dollar a day.
My goal is to invite design consultancies to send one or two designers to take part in this life changing journey and bring back the innovation, meaning and richness that is India.
