This year's Shift Conference will hit the pulse of industrial design! Shift takes on current notable shifts in our industry by gathering a 20+ speaker line-up from Patagonia, Black Diamond, Treehugger, Kid Robot, Core77, Frog Design, the Smithsonian Institute and the Ministry of Culture...to name just a sampling of the talent.
IDSA and the RISD ID Department are honored to host each attendee on RISD's world class campus for discussions on topics including: eco-strategies, entrepreneurialism, progressive research methods, interaction design, and comparisons between China and India.
IDSA's Northeast District is pleased to announce an exclusive Pre-Conference Workshop:
Scott Robertson Presents a New Object Styling and Rendering Lecture
Scott Robertson will introduce for the first time his ideas on a step-by-step styling process and how it may be applied towards a digital rendering strategy. His styling demonstration will touch on the following topics: silhouette, proportion, stance, value graphics, line graphics, surfacing, color, material choices and informational graphics. In conjunction with the presentation of his process, he will demonstrate how each styling idea can be related back into a rendering strategy within Photoshop CS2. As well as sharing his techniques for styling and rendering objects, he will give a sneak peek at some of his recent work and upcoming Design Studio Press books. During the presentation, Scott will be working with a high-end Wacom tablet, and demonstrating techniques in using this hardware. Scott is the founder of Design Studio Press, which is now partnered with The Gnomon Workshop to deliver the industry's most comprehensive sketching and rendering tutorials and DVDs.
At this particular workshop, Scott will be premiering new, never-before-seen material. This is an excellent opportunity for students to develop their sketching technique, and for seasoned designers to keep up-to-date on new trends and techniques.
Q+A will be encouraged throughout the lecture.
Signup for this intensive, 4-hour workshop. Registration for this event starts at $125 for IDSA members and $40 for students. Seats are limited, so sign up soon!
See you there!
