Sustainability and Lighting Design
Center for Architecture 536 LaGuardia Place NY NY 10012
Lighting design is integral to sustainable design. Sustainable lighting design: its not just dark skies. This program deals with how daylighting impacts mechanical systems is a topic that most lighting engineers might not have a good understanding of, and offers them good insight! Find out when daylighting can be too much of a good thing; working against your sustainability goals rather than contributing to them. Projects will be used to illustrate these concepts.
Speakers:
Brian Stacy currently leads the Arup Lighting New York Office, and has extensive experience designing lighting and related systems for a range of exterior and interior environments in the cultural, entertainment and corporate sectors. He is a LEED Accredited Professional, and spoken for the New York City Chapter of the IESNA on sustainability issues previously.
Fiona Cousins is a principal and mechanical engineer in Arup's New York office. She has worked extensively as an engineer and project manager for both corporate and institutional clients on a wide variety of building projects including office developments, laboratories, libraries, performing arts centers, airports and educational buildings.
