Firstop: Williamsburg Design Weekend will take place for the fourth time this spring, and we would like you to be part of this event.
Firstop: Williamsburg Public will be held May 20th - May 22nd, concurrent to the International Contemporary Furniture Fair in Manhattan. Produced by Firstop and Joint Venture organizers, our focus is to produce a multi-faceted event that will involve more of Williamsburg's creative talent and reach a large audience of New Yorkers and the international design community.
There are three ways to participate this year:
Open Studio: Open your working design studio to the public, Sunday and Monday, May 21/22, from 12-7pm. Must be open both days, for the full duration of the open studios. Fee: $ 75.
Offsite Exhibition: Present your work or host a design exhibition in a retail or gallery space, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, May 20-22, from 12-7pm. Must be open all three days, for the full duration of the event. Fee: $ 150.
Public: Design and produce an element that is suitable for display or use on the sidewalks of Williamsburg, whether outdoor seating, lighting, shelter, garbage cans, or bicycle stands. Public works will be on display in locations around Williamsburg from 12pm on Saturday May 20 through end of day Monday May 22. Designers and their works chosen for the Public element of Firstop will be assigned locations based on the permissions of local businesses and landlords. Selected designers will be responsible for the production, set up, security, and removal of their work. Fee: $ 0.
The fees for participation provide you with listings on the Firstop invitation, website, and map, a link on the website for 12 months, and event promotion, which in the past has resulted in coverage in local, national, and international press.
