practical leadership for design
IDSA announces the "Practical Leadership for Design" seminar.
Have you found yourself at a point in your design career where you’re ready to manage projects, and build or lead teams but don’t know where to start? Or if you are already in a management position, do you want to learn more about what constitutes successful leadership?

With today’s shifting economic tide and rapidly changing industry environment, many designers are finding it essential to establish strong management skills to further their careers and bring their companies’ visions to life. No matter whether you are a lone entrepreneur, working in a consultancy, or in a corporate environment, you will benefit from this day-long seminar that introduces you to practical tools and tactics to enable you to assume leadership roles to help formulate a game plan and vision for your businesses’ future. This interactive seminar also includes a case study session, which will require attendees’ direct participation. And to make it more dynamic, we have invited our industry’s leaders to share their experience and perspectives on management challenges and leadership strategies.
Speakers:
Richard Green, Partner, Strategies for Planned Change – on “Leader as Influence: case study”
Mary Mc Bride, Director of Design Management Graduate Program, Pratt Institute – on “Leader as Coach: self and staff”
Rich Radka, Partner, NEST-The Home Lab – on “Design Leader as Culture Builder: forming a vision”
Afternoon Discussion Panelists:
